Editorial Casals was founded in 1870 by Ramon Casals and Primitivo
Sanmarti and has been publishing since that time without interruption.
In the nineteen sixties it chiefly concerned itself with publishing text books. At that time it was a pioneer in the publishing of books to help learn catalan. In the seventies it brought out some very innovative material for young learners which was very widely used. In the eighties it merged with magisterio publishing, which enabled it to expand much more in Spain and America.
At present it mainly concentrates on text books and back - up material,
ranging from basic primary education through to higher school (pre
university). It also has an extensive number of novels for young
people. It publishes in spanish, catalan, galician, valencian and
basque. It has its own network covering the whole country. The main
offices are in Barcelona and Madrid, with branch offices in Tarragona,
Valencia, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Mallorca, Coruña and Las Palmas.
It also sells books in several Latin American countries. |
